The Senior Director, Cell Line Development for Cytiva is responsible for leading the viral vector cell line development business, driving continuous improvement and ultimately ensuring long-term business success.

This position is part of the Viral Vector business unit in the Genomic Medicine Operating Company located in Cologne, Germany and will be on site. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

What you will do:

  • Ensure smooth transition into Cytiva and Danaher through leadership across functions, while protecting, preserving and enhancing Cevec’s highly innovative culture
  • Lead the cell line development team ensuring that customer projects are delivered on time and to their satisfaction. Lead customer audits when requested
  • Inspiring and instilling a mindset of continuous improvement in your team using DBS to ensure that our cell line development offering remains world leading
  • Provide leadership and direction to all personnel within the site
  • Accelerate talent management to ensure the continued development for direct reports. Partner closely with the human resources organization in developing organizational capabilities through succession planning, organizational assessment, identification of key skill gaps, talent acquisition and talent development strategies that link with business goals.
  • Communicate values, strategies, and objectives within the plant. Effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including leadership team, associates, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and promote a culture of safety, responsible for implementing and maintaining safety protocols to protect both employees and the environment. Ensure that environmental regulations and good practices are adhered to.

Who you are:

  • Master’s Degree, Ph.D. or equivalent in related life sciences with 15+ years commercial, product development, strategic planning and general management experience in a related Life Sciences industry.
  • Data driven approach to decision making, track record of developing business cases or strategic proposals.
  • Experienced in working with financial modelling, building credibility with customers, key opinion leaders, internal stakeholders and ability to connect with senior leaders at global customers.
  • Seasoned leader with ability to develop and scale businesses and talent, having led seasoned functional experts and leader of leaders.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Viral Vector/ Genomic Medicine workflows and licencing/ services value propositions
  • Leading cell line development teams
